The Friday Five!

Welcome to The Friday Five!

The Friday Five is a weekly post in which I share with you the top five blog posts and/or articles I've read this week. Some are bookish, some are not - but all tickled my fancy!

I read a lot of great posts this week! It was a little hard to choose, but here they are!

Also - we had a bunch of new followers to Kate's Library this week! Welcome!

1. Roland at "Writing in the Crosshairs" had a very interesting post this week called O.K. There are vampires. Now what? I love, of course, that it started with a scene from a Stephen King novel. I also love to hear about the process of writing through the eyes of a writer.

2. I added a new book to my TBR pile, thanks to "Let It Read." A recent review of Teresa Riordan: Inventing Beauty really got my attention. It looks fascinating.

3. I found a very funny blog this week called "The Bitchy Waiter". I loved the post this week Is The Customer Always Right? Although I've never worked in the food industry, I DID work in a Hallmark store. I have vivid memories of explaining a policy to a customer over, and over, and over, only to have my boss come over and excuse the customer from the policy. The worst part was completing the sale while the customer smugly looked at me as if I was the world's biggest jerk.

4. Priya over at "The Plum Bean Project" really made me laugh this week. She wrote a post called bits and pieces where she talks about her eavesdropping. I am also an eavesdropper and found myself laughing, first when reading her post, and later recalling things I've heard over the years. The funniest are from my elementary school teaching days. "Mrs. C. said I'm not supposed to sing 'Smack That'. No. I don't know why. I think it's because there's no rap allowed in school."

5. Nymeth at "Things Mean A Lot" wrote a review of The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas, An American Slave. This is one of those classics I've never had to read, but would like to. I remembered it when seeing her post in my google reader, and I remembered why I want to read it after I read her thoughts.

As always, happy reading, and HAPPY FRIDAY!

  2. Oh yes... it was a whole big thing with this kid. I actually have a note that I saved on my 'fridge... "Dear Mrs. C, I'm sorry for singing Smack That during chorus. It was not appropriate, and it will not happen again. Your friend, Kyle."

    Love those kids!
